War Dungeon — Apothecary

Apothecary evolution — polarity flipped from Frontier: liquourice/cowboy/caput dominate large surfaces; rodeo reserved for cards, panels and text-blocks. Body type may swap to IM Fell English or Cormorant Garamond for a candlelit, hand-set register.

The Curator's Notebook

An ongoing record of pulls from the shop floor — the pieces that stopped us in our tracks, the rarities that resurfaced from private collections, and the cards we wish we could keep for ourselves.

Direction Rules

Do

  • Use liquourice / cowboy / caput as the dominant content background — never rodeo.
  • Use rodeo and rodeo-light only on cards, panels, text-blocks, and raised surfaces.
  • Use sienna as the primary CTA — it reads strongest against the dark surrounds.
  • Consider IM Fell English or Cormorant Garamond as body typeface for a candlelit register.
  • Use caput borders + caput hairline shadows on light cards instead of liquourice.

Don't

  • Don't add neon, glow, or gradient lighting effects — atmosphere comes from colour, not simulated light.
  • Don't drop ornament density — rivets, dividers and filigree carry as much weight here as in Frontier.
  • Don't introduce cool blacks or greys — every dark tone is warm-brown, never grey.
  • Don't replicate Frontier's tan-dominant rhythm — if the design reads light-dominant, Apothecary has failed.
  • Don't desaturate or wash the photography — diorama imagery is still warm and dramatic.
